What is THE PERFECT Fashion U. outfit?

Working here in the Teen Vogue offices, surrounded by the most beautiful and fashionable people in New York… I start to think about the art of a “perfect” outfit. The people here make it look so simple… it’s as if they wake up in the morning and have their clothes magically picked out for them- all with the right colors and styles that make them look their best, always. I wish I had this secret talent. Instead, I spend my commute in and out of the city flipping through fashion magazines in constant search for outfit inspiration.

So, I know that you’re all wondering what might be the “perfect” Fashion U. outfit. That’s a tough one. I can speak from my experience though, as last year I was in your shoes. When I volunteered my time to Fashion U. last October, one of the first questions I asked my supervisor was “what do you suggest I wear?” Her response hit the nail on the head, so to speak: “just look stylish and fun, but remember, be comfortable. It’s a long but very fun day.” And let me tell you, I wish I would have thought about my outfit a little more. That day I opted for a pair of skinny black cords, a silky tank top, a floral cardigan and a pair of incredibly uncomfortable flats. Ehhh… wrong answer. Uncomfortable flats NEVER work on long and busy days ESPECIALLY when that day happens to be rainy as well.

My best outfit suggestion would be something stylish, fun AND comfortable, just as my supervisor advised me. Also, something you feel good in… because if you feel good, you’ll look good. One of the highlights of Fashion U. for me was seeing what all of you guys were wearing. Your fashion sense is amazing! Mix and match and go for the accessories too… nothing like trendy jewelry or a cute scarf to finish off an already cool outfit.
