Valentino announces online exclusive for men’s runway looks

Online shoppers will be able to get their hands on exclusive items from Valentino’s Fall 2012 menswear collection thanks to the “Reserve From the Runway” project.

The Italian fashion house will be unveiling its upcoming men’s collection the evening of January 11 during the Pitti Uomo fashion fair in Florence, Italy.

Hot on the heels of the debut, WWD reports that a selection of apparel and accessories, designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, will be available for exclusive reservation at online boutique thecorner.com, with sales commencing January 12 and delivery scheduled for mid-June.

“Home delivery of Valentino’s fall men’s collection will take place even before the line hits the stores. It’s a sign of how a storied company values and grants a privilege to customers on the Internet,” explained the founder of Yoox, the Italian e-tailer behind thecorner.com.

“Reserve From the Runway” will also be available on the iPad and follows increasing steps being taken by fashion houses to provide consumers with exclusives via the web. Last week it was announced fellow Italian label Ermenegildo Zegna will be allowing shoppers to purchase a select array of exclusive items as soon as they are shown on the runway at the upcoming Milan Men’s Fashion Week, even before they go on sale at Zegna’s traditional retailers, via a new Zegna Live app.

Milan Men’s Fashion Week will run January 14-17.
